It is very important for people of the general public to choose foods high in antioxidants, but in order to understand this properly one first needs to become more educated on what antioxidants actually are and what they have to offer in terms of health benefits.
Antioxidants are essential to one’s overall health and well being. Vitamins as well as nutrients can keep the body safe from cell damage that is created by free radicals are called antioxidant rich foods which are phytochemicals. These free radicals are atoms or groups of atoms with an odd number of electrons and which are formed when oxygen interacts with certain molecules.
The antioxidants can safely interact with free radicals and they work by terminating the chain reaction before any vital molecules in the body are damaged.
There are many different antioxidant rich foods, and while there is always the option of taking antioxidant supplements it is best to stick with the real thing because this is where people are going to find more nutrition. Supplements simply do not have the same effect as foods that are rich in antioxidants and believe it or not many of these foods are pretty delicious as well.
Foods high in antioxidants include berries, broccoli, tomatoes, garlic, spinach, tea, carrots, soy, whole grain, red grapes, and cabbage. Foods that are high in antioxidants are great for us and keep us healthy, luckily they are the super foods of choice now and it will stay this way.

Basically any fruit or vegetable that is brightly colored is going to be high in antioxidants and there are super antioxidant rich foods such as blueberries and chocolate which are incredibly nutritious for the body and yet do come with a caveat, which is that they tend to be high in oxalic acid as well. Oxalic acid can be harmful to the body because it binds to other valuable nutrients in food and makes them unavailable during digestion.
To live the longest and healthiest life possible it is vital that a person includes as many foods that are high in antioxidants into their diet as they can.
