Do Pregnant Women Need Exercise? The answer is yes! Despite popular belief, exercising through a pregnancy is beneficial, both for Mommy’s and her unborn child’s sake. Reaping the handful of benefits by exercising is readily achievable, yet most pregnant mommies don’t know perks even exist, wherein the problem lies. Exercise is advisable for pregnant women, as exercise during pregnancy prepares a pregnant woman’s body for the demands of labor. Most exercise routines for pregnant women include swimming and brisk walking. Special yoga classes and tai chi, are also popular, and believe it or not, abdominal exercise during pregnancy. Abdominal exercise during pregnancy may sound a bit drastic, but actually yields good results, as the abdominal muscles play a major role during labor.

When you’re pregnant you have to be extra careful as to which exercies you do and which you have to stay clear of. Certain exercises can be dangerous to you or your baby. There have been many cases of women who have miscarried due to over exertion or a wrong choice in the type of physical activity they pursued. Here are some tips about exercises for pregnant women: 1. Swimming - This is an excellent sport for pregnant women as it’s a zero impact workout, employs all the muscle groups of the body and is also a great aerobic routine. 2. Walking - Taking a walk once every 2 days (or on a daily basis if you can manage it) is a great way to keep in shape. Make sure that you walk at a brisk pace. Don’t waste your time on strolling along. It is better to swing your arms as you walk will also work your upper body muscles and provide a better overall workout. 3. Jogging - It is alright to do some jogging. Especially during early pregnancy. But you can do so as long as you feel comfortable. However, sprinting is less advisable as each step sends an increased shock throughout the body. 4. Yoga and Pilates - These class workouts are extremely popular among pregnant women. They are less strenuous to the body and focus on length of motion and flexibility and are recommended exercises during pregnancy.

Keeping up your exercise routine will make you feel better, maintain your existing fitness levels and prepare your body for the additional strains and stress caused by pregnancy.
